Everything you need to know to run routes, stay compliant, get paid, and represent EdgeCo Road Solutions at the highest level across Central and South Florida.
You're not just a courier. You are the final — and most critical — link in Florida's healthcare supply chain. Welcome to the team.
Our Mission
EdgeCo Road Solutions exists to deliver critical medical specimens, medications, and supplies on time — every time. We are purpose-built for hospitals, clinics, and laboratories that demand zero-compromise logistics.
Every run you complete matters. A delayed lab specimen can hold up a diagnosis. A missed prescription delivery can affect a patient's treatment. You are driving for a reason — and EdgeCo is built around people who take that seriously.
This playbook is your operating manual. Read it, know it, and refer back to it whenever you need guidance. If something isn't covered here, contact dispatch.

Compensation Structure
Your Pay
EdgeCo pays drivers 65% of every transaction they complete — across one-time runs AND long-term client contracts. The more volume you handle, the more you earn. There is no ceiling.
65%
Of Every Transaction · Paid Directly to the Driver
For every completed delivery transaction billed to a client — whether it's a single $100 run or a $10,000/month facility contract — you receive 65% of the gross value. EdgeCo retains 35% to cover dispatch, compliance infrastructure, insurance, and operations.
Two Ways You Get Paid
Track A
Per-Run Transactions
Individual dispatched runs — STAT, specimens, prescriptions, records. Each completed run is its own transaction. You earn 65% per run, settled weekly.
$65 – $325 / run
Your 65% on $100 – $500 runs
Track B
Client Contract Routes
Long-term facility contracts assigned to your area. Monthly guaranteed contract value — you earn 65% of whatever that contract pays EdgeCo, every single month.
$1,300 – $6,500 / mo
Your 65% on $2K – $10K contracts
The EdgeCo Time Model
You Don't Get Paid by the Hour. You Get Paid by the Run.
At EdgeCo, your clock doesn't matter — your completions do. A run that takes you 45 minutes and a run that takes 2.5 hours pay the same amount if the transaction value is the same. Distance determines time in the field. What you complete determines your paycheck. Work 2 hours or work 5 — if you complete the same runs, you earn the same money. You are fully in control of your own income.

Special Run Type · Airport / Checkpoint Delivery
TSA Deliveries
TSA runs involve transporting approved medical cargo — typically specimens, medications, or sensitive documents — to or from airport facilities, TSA checkpoints, or air-freight medical handlers. These runs carry elevated pay due to access requirements, strict compliance protocols, and time sensitivity tied to flight schedules.
🔒
Security Clearance Access
Coordinating with TSA officers, badged personnel, and secure zones requires additional verification steps and patience. Not every driver qualifies — those who do earn more.
⏰
Flight-Tied Deadlines
Cargo must arrive before wheels-up. A missed window can mean a cancelled medical shipment. The time pressure is real — and the compensation reflects it.
📋
Enhanced Documentation
Air cargo manifests, TSA chain-of-custody forms, and customs declarations (when applicable) add documentation requirements beyond a standard run.
🚗
Airport Traffic & Distance
Airports are often across town. Navigating arrival/departure loops, cargo terminals, and restricted zones takes more time than a standard clinic pickup — and pays accordingly.

$454 earned
Three airport runs across a morning and early afternoon. Each run is tied to a flight window, so timing matters — but once the cargo is handed off, you're free. Done by early afternoon with over $450 in your pocket.
⚠ TSA Run Requirements
→Government-issued ID required at all checkpoints — your EdgeCo badge alone is not sufficient.
→Air cargo manifest must accompany all shipments. EdgeCo dispatch provides this before departure.
→No cargo modifications. Never repackage, open, or relabel airport-bound shipments under any circumstances.
→Arrive with buffer time. Account for airport congestion, cargo terminal access, and security screening delays.
→Confirm flight window with dispatch before every TSA run. Flight delays or changes affect your delivery window.
→Chain of custody must be maintained through handoff to TSA-authorized cargo handler. Get their name and badge number.
What Different Workdays Actually Look Like
These are realistic day scenarios. Same pay, different time commitments — because distance and run type vary. The task gets done, you get paid. That's the deal.

A full active day mixing run types. With the right mix — including a $500 cross-county run in place of the multi-stop — a 5-hour day can push well past $500+ take-home.
💡
The bottom line: Two drivers can work the exact same day — one finishes in 3 hours, one in 5 — and earn the exact same pay if they completed the same runs. Speed and efficiency reward you with more free time, not less pay. You set the pace. You own the income.
Track B · Client Contract Pay
EdgeCo secures long-term service contracts with hospitals, clinic networks, labs, and pharmacy chains. When a contract is assigned to your area, you are the designated driver for that account — and you receive 65% of the full monthly contract value, guaranteed, for as long as that contract is active.

Contract assignment is performance-based. Drivers who consistently complete runs on time, maintain clean documentation, and receive positive client feedback are first in line when higher-tier contracts open up in their region. Your track record is your leverage.
Pay Periods & Processing
Pay is processed on a weekly basis for spot runs. Contract pay is distributed monthly upon verification of completed service for that billing period. All completed runs must have submitted proof-of-delivery documentation to be included. Incomplete or undocumented transactions may be held pending review.
What Counts as a Transaction
Completed pickup + delivery — both legs documented with timestamps and signatures.
Digital proof of delivery (POD) submitted through the dispatch system before end of day.
Chain-of-custody log completed without gaps for specimen and record runs.
Contract runs — each scheduled service day under an active client contract counts toward that month's contract total. Missed days without notice may result in contract credit deductions.
Any cancellation after pickup — if you have taken custody of the cargo and the run is cancelled by the client, a partial transaction may still apply. Contact dispatch immediately.

Medical cargo to/from airport freight terminals. Air manifests required. Premium pay — flight-window time sensitivity and TSA checkpoint coordination.
Temperature-Sensitive Cargo
Many specimen and medication runs require temperature-controlled transport. Always confirm cold-chain requirements with dispatch before pickup. Never store temp-sensitive cargo in a vehicle without the approved insulated cooler or transport bag. Document temperature at pickup and delivery.
04
Regulatory Standards
Compliance Standards
EdgeCo is built on medical-grade compliance. Every driver must uphold these standards on every run — no exceptions, no shortcuts.
HIPAA / HITECHOSHA BloodborneDOT HazmatFlorida StatutesBAA AvailableChain of Custody
H
HIPAA / HITECH Compliance
All patient information is strictly confidential. Never discuss patient names, diagnoses, or record contents with anyone outside the chain of custody. Do not photograph or duplicate any medical documents. If you inadvertently see protected health information (PHI), report it to dispatch immediately. HIPAA violations can result in immediate termination and federal penalties.
O
OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Protocol
All biological specimens are treated as potentially infectious. Always use provided PPE (gloves) when handling biohazard-labeled packages. Never open specimen containers. If a package leaks or breaks, do not touch the contents — isolate the vehicle, call dispatch, and follow spill protocol. Dispose of contaminated gloves and materials in the red biohazard bag provided in your kit.
D
DOT Hazmat Regulations
Biological specimens and certain medications fall under DOT hazardous materials regulations. Packaging provided by EdgeCo clients must be UN-certified. Do not accept cargo in non-compliant packaging — contact dispatch if you have concerns about a package's condition or labeling at pickup.
C
Chain of Custody Documentation
Every specimen and record run requires a documented chain of custody from pickup to delivery: your name, time of pickup, condition of package, time of delivery, and recipient signature. Never leave cargo unattended in an unsecured vehicle. If you must leave the vehicle, lock it. The chain of custody is your legal protection and EdgeCo's quality guarantee.
⚠
Zero tolerance: Violations of HIPAA, chain-of-custody, or biohazard protocols will result in immediate suspension pending review. Depending on the nature of the violation, termination or reporting to regulatory authorities may follow. When in doubt — ask dispatch before acting.
05
Before Every Dispatch
Pre-Run Checklist
Complete this checklist before every single run. These steps protect you, the cargo, and EdgeCo's clients.
Confirm run details with dispatch — pickup address, delivery address, run type, client name, and special handling requirements.
Check your transport kit — gloves, biohazard bags, insulated cooler (if required), chain-of-custody forms, and your EdgeCo ID badge.
Vehicle inspection — verify the vehicle is clean, locked, and free of any contamination from prior runs. Do not transport cargo in a visibly soiled vehicle.
Confirm cold-chain requirements — if the run involves temperature-sensitive cargo, confirm cooler temperature and have ice packs or dry ice ready as specified.
Phone charged and dispatch connected — you must be reachable at all times during a run. Notify dispatch if you lose signal or face a technical issue.
Review any special client instructions — some facilities have specific entry procedures, loading dock locations, or recipient contact requirements. Know before you go.
STAT runs only: Confirm your ETA to dispatch before departing. STAT clients receive real-time updates — accuracy matters.
06
Pickup to Delivery
During the Run
Your behavior from the moment you arrive at pickup to the moment you hand off cargo defines EdgeCo's reputation with every client.
At Pickup
1
Identify Yourself
Present your EdgeCo ID badge and state the facility/department you're picking up for. Never proceed without verifying you are at the correct location and department.
2
Inspect the Package
Check packaging integrity before accepting. Look for leaks, damage, improper labeling, or missing biohazard markings. If anything is wrong, do not accept the package — contact dispatch immediately.
3
Log Pickup Time & Condition
Record the exact pickup time, package count, condition, and temperature (if applicable) in the chain-of-custody form or dispatch app. Get the sender's signature where required.
In Transit
Direct route only — do not make personal stops during an active run. Any deviation must be approved by dispatch.
Cargo secured — specimens and medications must be in the approved transport container, upright and stable. Do not place cargo on seats or the floor unsecured.
No unattended vehicle with cargo — if you must stop (fuel, emergency), lock the vehicle. Never leave cargo unattended in an unlocked vehicle under any circumstances.
Drive safely and legally — STAT doesn't mean reckless. Traffic violations reflect on EdgeCo and are your personal responsibility. Safety first — always.
07
Completing the Run
Delivery & Close-Out
A delivery isn't complete until documentation is submitted. These final steps lock in your transaction and protect everyone in the chain.
1
Deliver to the Right Person
Deliver only to the designated recipient or department. Never leave cargo at a front desk, reception, or unattended area without explicit authorization from dispatch. For prescription/medication runs, a signature from an authorized person is mandatory — always.
2
Confirm Condition at Delivery
Note the delivery time and package condition. If temperature-sensitive, document delivery temperature. If the recipient notes any concerns about the cargo, document them immediately and notify dispatch.
3
Obtain Recipient Signature
Get a dated, timed signature from the delivery recipient on the chain-of-custody form or in the dispatch app. This signature is your proof of delivery and triggers your pay credit for the transaction.
4
Submit Proof of Delivery (POD)
Upload or transmit your completed chain-of-custody documentation through the dispatch system before end of day. Incomplete POD = delayed or held payment. This step is non-negotiable.
5
Notify Dispatch of Completion
Mark the run complete in the system and verbally confirm with dispatch if required. This closes the transaction and makes you available for your next run.
Your Pay Depends on This
Your 65% transaction pay is calculated from verified, completed transactions with submitted documentation. Every signature and timestamp protects your earnings. Don't skip the paperwork — it's how you get paid.
08

🔒

Do not force access. Contact dispatch who will coordinate with the facility directly. Patience and professionalism — you represent EdgeCo at every door.
🚨
Situation
Accident / Safety Event
Safety first — always. Call 911 if needed. Then call dispatch. Do not move the vehicle if it may be needed for accident investigation. Notify dispatch of cargo status.
⏱

Delayed / Running Late
Call dispatch immediately when you anticipate being late — not after. Clients are notified proactively. Last-minute surprises damage relationships and your standing.
📞
When in doubt, call dispatch. There is no situation so minor that you shouldn't loop in the team if you're unsure how to handle it. A two-minute call is always better than a costly mistake.
09
Professionalism
The EdgeCo Standard
You are the face of EdgeCo at every pickup and every delivery. The standard is not just professional — it's clinical.
Dress professionally — wear your EdgeCo badge visibly at all times. Clean, presentable clothing. You're entering healthcare environments — appearance matters.
Be courteous and calm at all facilities — staff at hospitals, labs, and clinics are busy. Be efficient, polite, and low-friction. Do not create conflict or escalate with facility staff — contact dispatch instead.
Protect patient privacy at all times — do not discuss what you're delivering, who it's for, or any details visible on any documentation with anyone who isn't an authorized recipient.
No phone use while driving — hands-free only. Pull over safely to handle dispatch messages if hands-free isn't possible. Your safety and a clean driving record are non-negotiable.
No personal use of cargo compartment — the transport area of your vehicle used for EdgeCo cargo is dedicated to client materials only while on a run. No personal items.
Zero tolerance for impairment — operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or any impairing substance will result in immediate termination. No exceptions.
Social media policy — do not post about clients, facilities, cargo, patients, or EdgeCo operations on any social media platform. HIPAA violations can occur through social media — treat it seriously.
Represent the mission — every run you complete with precision and professionalism directly impacts patient outcomes. Take pride in the work. It matters.
Feedback & Recognition
EdgeCo tracks client feedback on every run. Positive client feedback goes into your driver profile and is considered when assigning higher-value routes and contracts. Consistent professionalism = more earning opportunity.

Required Before Your First Run
Your Certifications
EdgeCo drivers are responsible for acquiring and maintaining the following certifications. All can be completed online, same day. You must submit proof to dispatch before being assigned your first run. Renewals are required annually.
📌
These certifications are your responsibility. EdgeCo does not complete them on your behalf. Costs are the driver's own. Most are under $30 and take under 2 hours. Once completed, upload your certificate to dispatch. You will not be assigned runs until all required certs are on file.

Pro Tip — Get Fully Certified From Day One
Even if you're starting with standard courier runs, getting all three required certs (HIPAA + BBP + Medical Courier) upfront takes less than 2 hours total and immediately qualifies you for higher-paying run types — including contract routes that pay $1,300–$6,500 a month. The IATA/DOT cert is the only one you can defer until you're ready for TSA runs.
